Licensing Aspect

Aspect is licensed on a subscription basis, and all licensing information comes from the licensing server that resides on the Exsero Software web server.  In order to license Aspect for the first time, you need a license code that is typically provided by email when you purchase a subscription.  In order to activate your installation of Aspect, follow these steps:

  1. Open Aspect.
  2. Navigate to the Tools page in the ribbon bar and choose Manage License.
  3. Paste or enter your license code provided by Exsero Software into the license code text box.
  4. Press the Activate License button.

Every subscription license of Aspect permits you to install Aspect on one computer.  If you need to move that subscription to a different computer, you must deactivate the license on the currently activated computer.

Activating or deactivating a license of Aspect requires an internet connection to contact the Exsero Software web server.  However, an internet connection is not required to run Aspect.

About a week before the subscription expires, Aspect will make contact with the licensing server to renew the license for another subscription period.  If Aspect cannot make contact before the subscription expires, Aspect will become unlicensed and therefore unusable.  Aspect will warn you when the subscription expiration is less than a week away.

Offline Activation of Licenses

If the Exsero Software License Server is ever unavailable or you don't have access to the internet to activate a license, it is possible to activate the licenses in offline mode without the license server.  Note that you must still have a means of getting the offline license code from Exsero Software, and without any internet this can be a potentially very tedious and error-prone task.

Follow these steps to perform offline license activation:

  1. Open Aspect.
  2. Navigate to the Tools page in the ribbon bar and choose Manage License.
  3. Click Get Machine Code.
  4. Send that machine code to Exsero Software.  They will generate an offline license from that machine code.
  5. Once you get the new license code, Paste or enter it into the license code text box.
  6. Press the Activate License button.
