The New Problem Dialog Box

Aspect currently supports two types of problems: electrical and visual.  Location problems can only be visual, and equipment problems can be both.  All problems can have a Name associated with them, which is really nothing more than a short description of the problem which is displayed in the Problem List and on several of the problem reports.  The name does not have to be unique, but it should be descriptive enough to be understood in a list of other problems.  If no name is provided, the unique problem identifier will be used instead.  Problem identifiers are comprised of either the letter V or E (visual or electrical) followed by the unique number of the problem.

Problem identifiers are unique to a customer database.  Therefore, all sites within a customer database will have unique problem identifiers but two different customer databases could contain the same problem identifier.

For electrical problems, you can fill out enough data to determine the severity of the problem in this dialog box.  That way, if you're unsure if a condition qualifies as an actual problem, you can fill out enough data to see if the severity warrants the creation of a problem.  This is especially useful when using Absolute Temperature Criteria (Tmax Corrected).  If you enter all of the severity criteria and the severity is Pass, you can simply cancel the dialog without creating a problem.  However, after entering everything if you decide that a problem should be created, all of the data in the dialog will be filled in on the new problem.
