The Ribbon Bar
The Ribbon Bar serves as the menu for navigating around Aspect and launching many of its features. The Ribbon Bar is comprised of four pages:
- File (Backstage)
- Home
- Tools
- Settings

The Ribbon Bar (Home Page)
Database
The database section contains one very important button--the ability to save the database, and access to the Recycle Bin.
Navigation
The buttons in the navigation section provide an easy way to move backward or forward by one item at a time in the current tree view. These buttons also have the shortcut keys F5 for Previous and F6 for Next.
Actions
The actions area (the image above is showing the actions for Locations & Equipment) are common actions that apply to the currently selected area in Aspect. Many of these actions are also available by right-clicking on the item in question. For example, right clicking on a Location in the tree view will give you the options of creating a new location or a new piece of equipment. The buttons in the ribbon bar are simply another way of accomplishing these actions.
On-Deck Auto-Sequenced Fields
This area shows all of the auto-sequenced fields, and allows you to quickly check and edit them while using Aspect.
Help
These two buttons launch this help system and provide quick access to a comprehensive list of all keyboard shortcuts used in Aspect.

The Ribbon Bar (Tools Page)
Tools
This area is where many of Aspect's tools are launched from, such as importing images and running reports.
Management
This area allows you to manage your software license for Aspect and check for software updates.

The Ribbon Bar (Settings Page)
Themes
Aspect comes with a variety of color themes that you can apply to the user interface. Feel free to experiment with the themes until you find one you like that suits your preference and working environment. The Report Theme dialog window is also launched from this area.
Settings
This area contains the Settings window, where most of the configuration options are set for various parts of Aspect.
Configuration
This area launches the dialog window for configuring Integrity Checks and Problem Severities.
Temperature Units and Measurement Units
These areas allow you to specify the temperature and measurement units used by Aspect. Default units are the units that will be applied when a new customer database is created or one is imported from another software application. The current units are the ones being used in the currently open customer database.
|
|
Default units are stored in the global database, and current units are stored in the customer database. Therefore, it is entirely possible to have some customers that use the metric system and others that use the imperial system. |
